Special attention will be paid to the drivers attitude to other people on the road, their perception of hazards and the need to practice positive driving techniques. Did you know? Newly qualified drivers are more at risk in the first year after passing the test than at any other time in their motoring career! They can be as much as two seconds slower than a practiced driver in recognizing danger and one in five will have an accident.

Pupils who reach the required standard can get a substantial discount on their motor insurance premium from companies supporting the scheme.

Flying Colours can advise you how to claim a 50% discount on your Pass Plus Training. Please contact Flying Colours for further information.

Advanced Driving Tuition

Over 85% of all traffic accidents are caused solely by driver error. Little, if any, further tuition is taken by drivers after passing the basic “L” test. Tuition can cover; driving in adverse conditions, reading the road and reaction to hazards in a planned and systematic way, smooth progress, good concentration and above all increased safety for all. Flying Colours will help you to develop your driving skills taking you to the desired standard for sitting the Diamond Advanced Driving Test.

Taxi Driver Driving Tests

The Driving Standards Agency has introduced a test specifically designed to examine the standard of new applicants for Hackney Carriage and Private Hire licences. Reflecting modern driving practices and conditions, the standard is set higher than the learner driver test and includes specific elements relating to the safe conveyance of passengers. Five councils now require potential taxi drivers to take this test.

Taxi drivers benefit from an increased credibility because of the official certification. Benefits for the local authority include the ability to provide positive consumer protection and a quality audited service to the community, in addition to better-prepared and safer taxi drivers. Set a precedent and be one step ahead of your competitors. Train with Flying Colours. Please contact Flying Colours for further information.

You will need to bring your theory test pass certificate, appointment card, the signed driving licence and photo identity eg Passport, student ID, or both parts of your signed photocard licence.

Learner and partly trained driver Tuition

Each driving lesson is well structured. What I mean by structured is I set a lesson plan with objectives that are attainable with some effort from the pupil.

The lesson plan

  • Set objectives

  • Attain objectives

  • Debriefing at the end of the lesson

  • Recap main points

  • Set the scene for the next lesson

This will give you a framework to help you develop your driving skills at an accelerated rate.

Partly trained drivers will be assessed and their driving skills developed by identifying strengths and weaknesses giving feedback on where learning or improvement has taken place. Flying Colours train using the Core Competencies, that is, fault identification, fault analysis and giving remedial advise on where to improve.

Care with nervous pupils

Care is taken with all pupils to ensure learning can take place. I feel it’s important that nervous pupils are helped to perform to the best of their ability. Learning can be fun in the right environment. See hall of fame for pupil’s feedback. (Link Hall of Fame)

Intensive Courses

An intensive course will help you get your driving licence in a much shorter time than weekly lessons. I offer intensive courses – usually spread over a few weeks giving you concentrated tuition with the practical test at the end of the course.

There is no easy guide as to how many hours of driving tuition you will need. We are all individuals with different rates of learning so the number of hours required would depend on several factors.

Simulated Tests

The simulated driving test is an essential part of your training to become a safe and confident driver and an important exercise in your learning process, as the simulated driving test is designed to mirror the driving test. It gives you an insight to the test and you will know what it feels like to be on test. Most people feel nervous on test so having the opportunity to experience “the silence” is normally an effective way of reducing test day nerves.
